Civil War Kepi

~ Original ~

Civil war ambulance corps

This original civil war kepi or cap is 100% as found
in a house in old city Philadelphia in the 5th and Pine street area witch
is the historic district of the city Philadelphia PA.

The gold or silver metallic trim on the hat was for ambulance corps, there is one pictured that has the same wide band, this one might be for a officer.wide band used so they might be distinguished in the field. This makes this Kepi extremly rare !
It is about 10% to 15% mouthed. The government inspection tag is still
in the inside. The band is also maker marked.
This is an item not often seen for sale, in this original condition.

Chief Washunga photograph

American Indian Photo

THIS WEBSITE IS WHERE I GOT MY INFORMATION AND SHOW THE SAME PHOTO

http://www.gchsweb.org/history.htm

Photograph by A. P.Trott, ca. 1860s. Thought to be from the Kaw Tribe which lived along Lyon's Creek.
Chief Washunga of the Kaw Tribe was the last great chief to live in the Junction City area. The Chief Washunga photograph (on display in the Geary County Museum) and the one seen here were taken on Washington Street in Junction City by A.P. Trott, an early photographer, probably in the 1860’s or early 1870’s. An extensive collection of items donated by a society member, is on display at the museum.
